2. Symon's rain gauge is a non-recording rain gauge used by the Indian meteorological department to measure rainfall:
Components
A Symon's rain gauge consists of a funnel, a circular collecting area, a receiving bottle, and a metallic container. The collecting area has a diameter of 127 mm and the rim of the collector is 305 mm above the ground. The receiving bottle is cylindrical and made of zinc .

1) Introduction : Concept of problem- solving using computer, use of programming language and software for problems solving, identification od various design and analysis problems in different field of Civil Engineering to bee solved using computer.
2) Use of spreadsheet: Learning spreadsheets like MS Excel, Matrix analysis, application to problems involving tabular data , CE estimation, surveying snd design problems.
3) Programming Languages: Learning at least one Languages : Fortran 2003/ 2008/2018, c++11/C++14/mathCad; Solving analysis and design problems in area like surveying , hydraulics, structural analysis, RCC design, soil mechanics and foundation, transportation, water resources etc.
4) Use of software: Familiarity with widely used Civil engg software like STAAD Pro, HECRAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, MX Roads, etc. Solving at least Two such analysis/ design problems.
